- Tolerates: Light partial shade
- Avoid: Deep shade (causes thinning and weak growth)

- Established plants: Very drought tolerantβwater only during prolonged dry spells
- Avoid overwatering (this is the most common mistake)

πΎ Fertilizing

- Over-fertilizing can cause weak, overly fast growth
βοΈ Pruning & Maintenance
- Naturally low-growing and spreading
- Prune only to:
- Control size
- Remove dead or damaged branches
β οΈ Avoid cutting into old bare wood (it may not regrow)
πΏ Spacing & Planting
- Space plants 2Β feet apart for ground cover effect
- Plant slightly above soil level for drainage
- Mulch lightly (but keep mulch away from trunk)
π Pests & Problems
- Generally pest-resistant
- Occasional issues:
- Spider mites (in dry heat)
- Fungal problems (if overwatered or poorly drained)
π Uses in Landscaping
- Ground cover for slopes and banks
- Low-maintenance borders
- Erosion control
- Foundation planting
- Coastal landscapes
π΄ Florida / Warm Climate Notes

- Avoid overwatering in humid seasons
- Give good airflow to prevent fungal issues
- Full sun is especially important in subtropical climates
